Cairns are bold, bright and busy. They are funny, affectionate and deeply involved in whatever their people are doing — but they are also independent terriers with a strong nose, a digging habit and ideas of their own.
A Cairn may suit you if you enjoy a confident, active little dog, appreciate terrier character and are happy to provide training, enrichment and secure spaces.
Think carefully if you want an instantly obedient dog, dislike digging or barking, or cannot safely manage a terrier's prey drive and independent streak.
